Day 1: Arrival in Amarante & Local Exploration
Arrive in Amarante and settle into Casa das Lérias.
Explore the Historic Centre starting with the São Gonçalo Bridge, an iconic landmark that has withstood the test of time and history and discover the nearby São Gonçalo Church, a stunning example of Renaissance architecture.
End your day with a peaceful walk along the Tâmega River, where you can take in the town’s beautiful scenery with a glass of local wine as the sun sets.
Day 2: Amarante’s Cultural & Historical Heritage
Visit the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum, housed in a former Dominican convent, which showcases the works of one of Portugal's most famous modernist painters along with other contemporary art collections.
Roman and Medieval Amarante
Take a guided tour that delves into Amarante’s ancient roots, from its founding in 360 BC to its prosperity under Roman rule. Explore the town’s mediaeval streets, and learn about its role in resisting the French invasion in the early 1800s.

Day 3: Day Trip to the Douro Valley

Return to Casa das Lérias, take a dip in the pool and enjoy our famous pastries and a glass of wine on the terrace overlooking the Tâmega river
Day 4: Scenic Walks & Outdoor Adventures
Enjoy a morning hike on the trails of Serra do Marão. This mountain range offers a variety of trails that take you through dense forests, across rugged terrain, and up to breathtaking viewpoints where you can see the surrounding valleys and peaks.
Riverside Walk to Aurora River Beach
In the afternoon head upstream along the scenic boardwalk that follows the banks of the Tâmega River leading you to the beautiful Aurora River Beach. Enjoy a picnic, swim in the calm waters, or simply unwind in this natural haven.
Relax and Reflect
Kick back and relax on one of the sun loungers on the lawn and savour a quiet glass of wine or cup of tea and revel in the sounds of nature, overlooking the Tâmega River.
